If you don’t know whether your USB port is powered data or data-only, you can try this simple tip. Try using two or more different USBs and see if there’s a connection to power. Think of it like you're plugging your phone into your computer's front usb ports. It will trickle charge but it's not designed to put out the amps to charge it sufficiently. I connected apple play for less than an hour and the audio suddenly stopped. I can see the song in the infotainment screen but no sound. My mp3 files' art on my iphone is fine/perfect - the way I want it- and my CX-5 already had Gracenote v00.09.000 on it displaying strange pictures for songs it doesn't know. I loaded the only Gracenote version available to download onto a USB stick, and tried the update/break procedure. It took a good Connect the connector on the device to the USB port. Open the console lid. If there is a cover on the auxiliary jack or USB port, remove the cover. (Type A) Connect the device plug/connector lead to the auxiliary jack/USB port. Just tested it out--with the Pandora app running on the phone, I can actually flip back and forth between the BT and the USB connection to my phone with no issues other than a delay in playing the Pandora stream (although it seemed that the BT connection can be choppy when the phone is also connected via USB at the same time--hmmm). I pressed the music/entertainment button (any of the buttons will work I guess) and holding down the volume button for around 7-10secs heard a chirp via speakers and it booted up! It will not switch to am/fm from sources list. Bluetooth connects to my phone, I can see the track playing but there's no sound and the volume knob does nothing. I tried PWR+NAV+BACK to reboot, seems like it doesn't work on this year. 1) Unit reboots in the middle of driving (happened to me) 2) Screen goes black during navigation. 3) Music screen (also music input ie AM/FM/XM) is not selectable. 4) Stored favorites all disappear (happened to me) 5) Navigation can be WAY off. Back when iOS 10 was announced I wanted to try out Apple Music, which utilizes the Music App(same app that you would use for local stored music as well). 2017 CX5 command knob joystick motions not working. Picture the scene. Cooped up for months, 2 kids under 3, getting ready to embark on a 3 day, 900 mile trip (with said kids).
